The Natural Wonders of Monhegan–Session 2

The Natural Wonders of Monhegan
A Nature-inspired Women’s Art Retreat
Are you inspired by the wonders of nature? Experience the magic that happens when creativity and the natural world come together at our four-day, three-night women’s art retreat on Monhegan Island.
Awaken your creative spirit and connect with your inner artist during this workshop, set against the breathtaking backdrop of Monhegan Island. Rich in natural beauty and artistic heritage, Monhegan is celebrated as one of the nation’s most historic and inspiring artist colonies. The island’s dramatic cliffs, lush forests, and iconic rocky shoreline have drawn artists, writers, and naturalists for generations.
What makes you stop in your tracks while exploring the outdoors? This retreat is designed to help you discover your personal connection to nature by focusing on the natural forms around us as we explore island life. As a result, you will create artwork that reflects an enhanced connection to nature. Being immersed in nature and art can be a powerful experience on a path to wellness.
Daily painting sessions foster exploration and self-expression in a supportive, judgment-free environment. This retreat is a safe space to discover your unique creative voice. More than just a painting workshop, it’s an invitation to embark on a journey of self-discovery and wellness through art.
Each day features an art-making session that includes painting and gelli printing, a nature-inspired treasure hunt, personal time for creativity, writing, exploration, or relaxation, and brief daily group reflections. Whether you crave solitude or connection, both are easily accessible within this exceptional experience. By the end, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of your creative process and leave with renewed artistic confidence.

Lodging
WHRL has secured two cottages for the retreat. Both are off the beaten path, non-smoking, and have WiFi.
Flying Bridge
Our group activities will take place in this modern two-story cape on the top of Horns Hill. The wrap-around deck is ideal for viewing sunsets and incredible night skies. Three artists’ spaces are available here.
Sarah’s Cottage
Located just a two-minute walk from the Flying Bridge, Sarah’s Cottage offers views toward the back side of the island, the harbor side, and the lighthouse. Take in the sunrise or the stars from the wraparound deck. Three spaces are available here. Because group activities take place at the Flying Bridge, Sarah’s Cottage may offer more tranquility and privacy.
What You Can Expect
You can unwind fully as you immerse yourself in the natural splendor of this magical island. Monhegan is a walking-only island where peace and tranquility prevail.
