VolunteerAlone we can do so little; together we can do so much. ~Helen Keller
Volunteers are Critical to our Success!
What makes our programs so successful? Our dedicated volunteers! We have a variety of volunteer opportunities to match your interests. Please complete this application so we can learn more about you. We’ll be in touch to talk about your interest in WHRL.
Your contribution is important to us!
Gardening Volunteers Needed!
Our largest program, Incredible Edible Milbridge, has many volunteer opportunities if you enjoy being outdoors – planting at the beginning of the season, weeding, watering, and general garden maintenance throughout the season – and cleanup at the end of the season. We will have regular volunteer days throughout the gardening season– stay tuned for more information! In season, join Adam at the Red Barn Motel IEM gardens on Tuesdays from 10 am – 2 pm – unless it is rainy. Come the whole time or for an hour – any help is appreciated!
Consider adopting one of the IEM raised beds in town. Help plant and maintain the bed throughout the season.
Seeds & Sprouts is our garden and cooking blog. We are always in search of new contributors, whether they write on on a regular basis or once in a blue moon!
WHRL Milbridge Days Auction – Committee Members Needed!
Our largest fundraiser of the year is the WHRL Milbridge Days Auction. This event is a combined raffle style auction and silent auction. We seek at least a hundred items for the raffle auction. The silent auction is for benches that local artisan paint. Volunteers are needed to be part of our auction committee to help solicit items for our auction. We also need volunteers to help set up and prepare for the auction itself.
WHRL Winter Tree Festival & Auction – Decorators Needed!
Our second largest fundraising event is held during Christmas on Main Street – the first Saturday in December. Community members adopt and decorate a live table-top sized fir tree, balsams wreath. Or create and donate your own holiday item. Click here for more details.
Mailing Days – Busy Hands Needed!
Twice a year we have mailing parties where we stuff and mail our twice-yearly newsletter. We are always looking for help on these days.
Workshops – Leaders Needed!
WHRL hosts a variety of workshop each year. Some are focused on gardening and food production. Others are on health and wellness topics or art workshops. If you have an interest/skill and are interested in volunteering time to lead a workshop, we’d love to hear from you!
