Parents and Family
WHRL Resource for Young FamiliesWe strive to offer a warm and welcoming environment where parents and caregivers can gather and enjoy the support of community. With WHRLigig: Infant and Toddler Playgroup, bring your little ones to explore, play, and socialize. In addition, our monthly Feed and Thrive: Drop-in Support for Breastfeeding & Infant Feeding is a vital resource that provides a supportive space for nursing mothers to seek advice, share experiences, and connect with others facing similar challenges. Both programs aim to nurture the parent-child bond while offering valuable support and encouragement to families in their early years.
For more information on either of these programs, contact Lizzie Cunningham at 413-717-7827.
WHRL’s office is at 87 Main Street in Milbridge. Use our main entrance (in the front of the building), and then our office is the very first door to the left – you won’t be able to miss us!
Imagine the community you want.
Together, we can create it.
WHRLigig: Infant and Toddler Playgroup
Come join us for a weekly drop-in playgroup at WHRL on Wednesdays from 10-11 am! Enjoy some adult company while your kiddos socialize and play in a new environment. WHRL provides all play materials.
This is for parents and caregivers with kids newborn to 5 years old.
From June through August, WHRLigig will meet at Milbridge Commons Wellness Park. If raining, we’ll meet at WHRL! Please leave your dogs home for these playgroups!
Note: If Milbridge area schools are closed or delayed due to inclement weather, WHRLigig will be canceled.

In partnership with Sunrise Opportunities Prevention Council.

Alfond Grant – $500 Educational Grant for Children
Did you know that every baby born to a Maine resident since 2013 automatically receives a $500 Alfond Grant for their future education? One nurse said, “It’s the second-best thing families bring home from the hospital!”
The Alfond Grant grows alongside your child and is ready to help when they continue their education after high school—whether college, trade school, or another path. We partner with community organizations like Women for Healthy Rural Living to ensure families across Maine know about this incredible opportunity.
