Outdoor Access Community Discussion
Following the Klondike Moutain OWL hike, we invite you to join the Maine Coast Heritage Trust (MCHT) for a community discussion on outdoor access and trail accessibility following our OWL Outing this month! MCHT is collecting data about the issues people face accessing recreation trails in our region. Through open dialogue with small focus groups, MCHT aims to discuss specific challenges and barriers our communities face, hear suggestions for practical solutions, and capture participants’ aspirations for future recreational opportunities, fostering a vision for a more inclusive outdoor experience. In the focus group discussion, we will discuss two questions with participants: “What are the barriers to accessing outdoor recreation in our region?” and “What are the community needs to increase access?”
This focus group will take place on October 18th immediately after our outing at the MCHT Downeast Field Office (160 US-1, Whiting, ME 04691). For directions from Klondike Mountain to the office, click here. It’s a quick ride, approximately 13 minutes. MCHT will provide pizza! We expect the discussion to be approximately 1-1.5 hours in length, depending on the group size. For more information, please email Kyle Winslow at kwinslow@mcht.org.
