Join Julie Houser for a very special Harvest Table – we are cooking for the Maine Seacoast Mission’s Downeast Table of Plenty community meal. Come feed your neighbors and spend a fun afternoon in the kitchen! 

Learn how to bring people together with comforting Southern classics made for sharing. In this hands-on cooking class, you’ll discover practical techniques for preparing flavorful dishes with confidence and ease. From mastering a rich New Orleans gumbo and learning the secrets to a proper roux to creating creamy slow-cooked Southern grits, this class celebrates the heart of Southern hospitality. The menu will also feature hearty vegan red beans and rice, a savory squash casserole, a fresh summer herb salad, easy sour cream rolls, and more. Whether you’re cooking for family gatherings, church suppers, or special events, you’ll leave with recipes, techniques, and tips for serving memorable Southern meals to a crowd. 

Julie Houser has a varied background as a caterer, caregiver, culinary school grad, recipe tester for a national website, and cookbook author.
