Women for Healthy Rural Living is excited to announce its upcoming Bloom for Butterflies: Milkweed Plant Fundraiser Sale. This initiative aims to promote the planting of milkweed, a vital host plant for monarch butterflies, and to raise funds to support the maintenance of the Ed Flanagan Pollinator Garden at Milbridge Commons Wellness Park.
Milkweed is essential for the survival of monarchs, whose populations have declined dramatically in recent years. By planting milkweed, we not only provide a safe habitat for these beautiful butterflies but also support the overall health of our local ecosystems.
The Bloom for Butterflies: Milkweed Plant Fundraiser Sale features swamp milkweed seedlings, a plant that forms 3-5 foot tall clumps, and doesn’t spread aggressively like other milkweed species. It’s a perennial that thrives in wet environments but can also grow in regular gardens.
Supplies are limited! Order below to pick up on Thursday, June 19th, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (or by appointment). Plants are a $10 donation.
