We are excited to announce Emily Bosley as the 2022 recipient of a $2500 Elaine Hill Memorial Nursing Scholarship. Emily is currently enrolled at the University of Maine Augusta, where she just completed her second semester with a 4.0 GPA.

In high school, Emily completed a certified nursing assistant course and then later a certified registered medication aid course as well as an EMT course. In 2019, she enrolled in a medical assisting course through Washington County Community College, graduating in 2020 with high honors and an associates degree. In 2021, she was accepted into the nursing program at UMA. Emily is employed at the Milbridge Medical Center as a medical assistant, where she continues to gain valuable experience as she pursues her studies.

The scholarship was established in 2009 following the death of beloved Milbridge nurse, Elaine Hill. Since that time, Women for Healthy Rural Living has raised over $65,000 for nursing scholarships. This year, WHRL is hosting “Summit for a Cause”, a hike to the top of Mount Katahdin, featuring 10 hikers, all raising funds for the scholarship.
