Haley Toppin
Haley Toppin is an Elaine Hill Memorial Scholar who is a junior in the nursing program at the University of Maine. She will graduate in May 2016. Haley is passionate about emergency medicine and hopes to land a job in an Emergency Department of ICU when she graduates....

Mailing Days – Busy Hands Needed!
Twice a year we have mailing parties where we stuff and mail our twice-yearly newsletter. We are always looking for help on these days.
Incredible Edible Gardens
Our largest program, Incredible Edible Milbridge, offers many volunteer opportunities if you enjoy being outdoors – planting at the beginning of the season, weeding, watering, and general garden maintenance throughout the season – and clean-up at the end.
Join the Wednesday Weeders at Milbridge Commons from 1 am to 1 pm.
Join Adam in the garden next to the Red Barn Motel on Tuesdays from 9 am to 1 pm unless it is raining.
Consider adopting one of the IEM raised beds in town. Help plant and maintain the bed throughout the season.
Workshop Leaders
WHRL hosts a variety of workshop each year. Some are focused on gardening and food production. Others are on health and wellness topics or art workshops. If you have an interest/skill and are interested in volunteering time to lead a workshop, we’d love to hear from you!
WHRL Milbridge Days Auction
We are seeking energetic volunteers for our July Milbridge Days Auction Committee. This auction has historically been our biggest fundraiser of the year and has always been a good time! Committee members will help imagine and reimagine the auction. We need help soliciting original and captivating donations (think experiences, private classes, private dinners, vacation rentals, cottage stays… you get the idea), marketing the event, and organizing auction items. Let us know if you’re interested in joining the fun.
Butterfly Festival
WHRL will host an engaging, fun, free, family-friendly Butterfly Festival at Milbridge Commons Wellness Park in August. The day will kick off with a workshop, “Monarch’s Milkweed and Magic.” We’ll have educational stations to see Monarch caterpillars, chrysalis, and butterflies up close, a pollinator garden education station, a story walk, and captivating butterfly crafts for children. We are looking for helpers interested in being a part of this exciting event. Click here fore more information on the event.
