October 4 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

mary laury retreat

Sky, water, rocks, trees, and more—watercolor painting is an exciting medium that flows and moves and does beautiful things. If you have never tried painting with watercolors, we will start with the basics. For those with experience, there are numerous tips and tricks to help you achieve distinctive results. Be inspired by the beauty of coastal Maine and enjoy the creative synergy that comes from a group of women painters working together!

Schedule

Morning

  • Welcome and Introductions
What brought you to the retreat? Where are you in your watercolor painting journey? What do you want to work toward accomplishing?
  • We will begin with some studies of skys and water outside the Marin house, then progress to shoreline rocks and the tree line at the shore. We start at the beginning so no one feels left out.

Lunch

Afternoon

  • After lunch, we’ll take some time to enjoy the shore, relax, and socialize. Maybe you can take some photos that you would like to paint.
  • We’ll continue to paint. Depending on the weather, we might paint from the wonderful porch or venture outside.
  • We’ll finish with a show-and-tell discussion of the paintings we made. The discussion will give us all a chance to learn from each other. It’s a time to talk about what new insight you gained today or what little nugget you will take away to use in your creative work.

The atmosphere is of support and encouragement for all.

What to Bring

  • All necessary art materials will be provided. However, if you have favorite brushes, you are welcome to bring them.
  • Bring some images that you might want to paint in the event of rain or fog.

Refunds

We understand that unexpected things happen. You will receive a full refund if you need to cancel, provided we can fill your spot.
