About Janie Snider

Janie Snider is a painter working in watercolor and acrylic. She finds her inspiration from her connections to the natural world. She is a Milbridge native living her childhood dream of being a full-time artist. Janie retired in 2022 after 30 years of teaching art to K-8 students in SAD#37 and Hancock Grammar School. “Since retiring, I have created a working studio that allows me to play and explore new techniques, materials, and ideas. I’ve been practicing what I preached to students and finding new insights into my own creative process. On my last day of teaching, a student left me with a little advice that I’m following, ‘Art is a way to tell your story, so keep telling your story with paint.'”
