Canoeing on Orange River

June 22 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

orange river

Join us with Hazel Stark from Maine Outdoor School on this paddle along the Orange River. Wildlife are busy raising young, finding food, and taking advantage of the longer days of late spring, but everyone has to come down to the river sometimes for a drink. This wildlife-watching focused outing is a flatwater paddling experience that sometimes has beaver dam barriers along the way, so be prepared to get out and drag your boat over obstacles.  An introduction to paddling in canoes and kayaks will begin the outing, so beginners are welcome.

Note that this OWL outing will take place on Sunday, not Saturday.

Location: Whiting, Maine

Difficulty: Flatwater paddle

Gear: Canoes, paddles, and life jackets are available on a first-come, first-served basis–otherwise, BYO boat.

Space is limited, and registration is required!

Please let us know if gas prices prevent you from participating! Contact lizzie@whrl.org.
