Carol Shutt is a mixed-media artist living and working on Mount Desert Island. She came to Maine in the late 1970s after earning a degree in Fine Arts from Syracuse University. For over 25 years, she taught art to K-8 students on MDI and led creative, exploratory women’s workshops in her own studio. Now retired, she has a full-time studio practice that includes painting, drawing, collage, altered books, reflective journaling, and creative writing using the Exquisite Corpse process. Carol considers herself an artist of ideas. “I’m always most excited and happiest when I’m exploring new concepts and materials.”
