About Me

I am a book lover, baker, and outdoor enthusiast. After living “away” for more than a decade, I now work remotely from my childhood home in Harrington and chronicle my adventures hiking and exploring Maine on the Beginner’s Maine blog and Instagram.

What excites me about this hike

I am doing this hike to honor my friend and former roller derby teammate, Samantha “Wham” McGovern, who died last Christmas after a two-year battle with brain cancer. Wham deeply appreciated the nurses who cared for her and her family. Her daughter Jo was born prematurely and spent the first year of her life in the hospital, much of it in neonatal intensive care. Wham helped found the Little Lobbyists organization to advocate for kids with complex medical needs and disabilities. She and Jo could often be seen on Capitol Hill in DC sharing Jo’s story with our nation’s leaders. I am honored to raise funds for a cause that was important to Wham, and I hope to do her proud.
