About Me

I was already raising my family when I decided to expand my career horizons. I started in healthcare in 2013, working as a medical assistant (MA) at the Milbridge Medical Center. It wasn’t long before becoming a registered nurse was in my sights.

For me nursing offered more autonomy, expanded knowledge, direct patient care, variety, and  growth.  Being an advocate for the community and leadership possibilities were also high on my list. So, when my second child was only two weeks old, I went back to school for my RN degree. Balancing the workload of nursing school with the care of a seven-year-old and a newborn required time management skills, but it’s an effort I’m proud of. I never failed despite the struggles.

As a new graduate nurse, I worked at Maine Coast Hospital in Ellsworth in the medical-surgical department. In 2021, I returned to the Milbridge Medical Center as a physician practice RN. I’m  very happy to be part of the MMC team again and to have the opportunity to serve my community. The strength and stamina I needed while I was in school are serving me well as I shoulders my new responsibilities.

As for the future, I plan to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) this fall. I am also  interested in gaining  certification as a diabetes nurse educator, which would fill a huge need in our area.

The Elaine Hill Memorial Scholarship helped me achieve me educational goals. And on a personal level, I am so pleased and proud to walk in Elaine Hill’s footsteps, carrying on her nursing tradition at the Milbridge Medical Center.
