Letting Nature Do (most of) the Work
July 13 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 amFree
July 13 with Leonore Hildebrandt
at Leonore’s Home
Some of us used to work hard in the garden: spade the ground, hoe and weed the soil, and then water seedlings and plants. The compost that we added would quickly disappear from the soil. (And our backs would ache.) Now we are finding that less is more––as long as we work in accordance with natural processes. Rotating crops, mulching, and planting cover crops will keep the garden’s soil loose, moist, and fertile. Pollinators and other helpful critters can be encouraged. We can be alert to weather conditions to avoid doing harm in the garden. In this workshop we will discuss ways to maximize our efforts in growing food, and then tour Leonore’s beautiful vegetable garden. Please bring your own tricks of the trade for a lively exchange!
Families are welcome! The workshop is FREE, but registration is required. Click here to register.
