The Women’s Health Resource Library is pleased to announce the return of the Elaine Hill Memorial 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, October 18, 2014. The event, in its sixth year, will be held at the Women’s Health Resource Library next to the Milbridge Medical Center, bringing runners and walkers of all ages together to raise funds the Elaine Hill Memorial Nursing Scholarship.
Since 2009, the EHM 5K has raised over $25,000 for scholarships. “We are especially excited for the walk/run this year because we will start and finish the race from the Milbridge Medical Center, where Elaine served the community for more than 30 years. There will also be children’s activities and a cookout following the race,” Chris Kuhni, Executive Director of the WHRL.
As in previous years, participants are encouraged to form a team, bringing together friends and family members to challenge themselves to completing the 3.1 mile course and to raise additional funds in Elaine’s memory.
The fastest of the fast will receive awards and the individual and team that raise the most donations will receive prizes. Everyone may have a chance at the raffle drawings.
Following the Race there will be a cookout and children’s activities.
Elaine Hill died in February of 2009 after a battle with breast cancer. She is remembered for her life of service as a nurse at the Milbridge Medical Center. In her memory, the Women’s Health Resource Library established a nursing scholarship. Each year scholarships are offered to a graduating senior at Narraguagus High School and a non-traditional student pursuing a nursing education.
