You’ve seen all those vegetables growing around Milbridge – in front of the post office, the banks, and many businesses. Not to mention the 14,000 sq. foot IEM Pick-Your-Own Market Garden next to the Red Barn Motel. These veggies are for all! But without tasty recipe ideas, all these veggies are just pretty gardens.
So the Women’s Health Resource Library is embarking on a year of collecting healthy recipes with the Incredible Edible Milbridge Recipe Project.
Each week the WHRL is sharing healthy recipes using vegetables that are in season in the IEM gardens or readily available from the grocery. Recipes are on the website at whrl.org (click on Food!) and at the Farmer’s Market. At the end of the year a printed Incredible Edible Milbridge cookbook will be compiled for sale. Proceeds from this cookbook with benefit the IEM program.
We are in search of recipes that use nutritionally rich ingredients and fresh fruits and vegetables. Do you have favorite recipes that fit the bill? Recipes that use whole foods, avoid preservatives, and limit sugar and sodium? We’d love to hear the stories behind your recipes, too.
For every healthy recipe submission, your name will be entered in a drawing for a $100 Hannaford Gift Card to be drawn at the end of the project!
